Darjeeling: Rapid round of firing from Deepak Gurung’s house by unknown assailants over GJM Rally led to one dead. Pramila Chettri, aged 36 and resident of Merryvilla, an employee of the HDFC Bank was mortally wounded. She was declared dead at the District Hospital at 2:55 pm and the cause of death as excessive bleeding and punctures on the left ovary. Anu Sharma, Pramila’s sister said that Pramila was not even the part of the GJM Rally and was returning with her friends after attending a religious function. The firing by assailants led to massive unrest in the town as mobs of disgruntled people marched to the GNLF leaders house and stoned them. Subash Ghisingh, Deepak Gurung and N. B. Khawas all prominent leaders of the GNLF were attacked by the people. An outraged mob set fire to Deepak Gurung’s house. Two cars were burn and the house ransacked. As chaos spread out towards the town more cars were burnt purportedly of GNLF sympathizers. There are no reaction from the Police and Section 144 have not yet been imposed.

From Kalimpong: One bike of GNLF supporter Mr. Changba is burnt, stones thrown at the house of Roshan Rai. The market was closed after 4.30 pm.
